How many calls per day does an inmate get to make?

my bf is in jail but im in another state.hes in the shelby county jail of memphis,TN. He tried calling me but i got an automated mssg asking about a prepaid account,since an inmate wa strying to reach me so i made one to be able to receieve his calls. will they he be notified of this? and i was also wondering how many calls can they make a day?
